Jamaica, the sun island

The Arawak, the first Amerindian population to settle on this island of the Great Antilles, in the Caribbean Sea, called it Xaymaca, land of wood and water or, according to other sources, spring land. Many years later, Harry Belafonte, the king of calypso music of Jamaican origin, renamed it “sun island“.

But every traveler who chooses Jamaica as a travel destination will give her a different name in an attempt to enclose in a few words her beauty. A beauty that shows itself in all its exoticism on the sunny Caribbean beaches spreads on the notes of reggae music – the background of every moment of the day – and comes out at night when the vital energy of the island reaches the places where it celebrates and dances under the moon. Then begins a new day, the sun returns to embrace Jamaica and warms its people and its guests. And a smile of gratitude is on everyone’s mouth.
